Quarterly Business Update Quarter 4 2006

Nexant has recently published its fourth Quarterly Business Update of the 2006 PolyOlefins Planning Service (POPS) Program year.

The QBU contains an overview for Quarter 4 2006 of the Polyolefins industry business environment, new olefin and polyolefin project announcements by region, an update of global polyolefin capacity changes, a review of regional prices and commentary on the latest technology developments.  In addition, the major discussion topic for this QBU focuses on the LLDPE and LDPE film market in Western Europe. In the document, seven pages are devoted to reviewing several of the key factors which will play a role in determining future consumption of these resins in Western Europe.  In particular, we look at historic growth in relation to GDP, the impact of political and economic change in Central Europe, the recent anti-dumping duties levied on imports from China and Thailand, and finally the growing environmental considerations.
